Update Supermium without losing bookmarks

My Supermium browser is taking ages to open up again. How do I update it without losing bookmarks and settings? I am using the portable version.

Updating shouldn't have any affect.

Agreed and on a regular browser there would be an option to update or it would update automatically which would not affect bookmarks or settings. However, on Supermium there is no option to check for updates under About. Last time I reinstalled an up to date version so had to set up bookmarks and settings again but I would like to know if there is a way of updating Supermium without losing bookmarks. Is the option to update under a different section?
