Running Vista HP 64. DL'd the Windows 7 upgrade for Vista 64. The problem is that the instillation wants me to uninstall iTunes because of compatability problems. I have the lastest version of iTunes running on my laptop's W7 HP 64-bit without a problem. I really don't want to uninstall iTunes because I ahve a lot of trouble when I go to re-install my songs and playlists (I'm just dumb like that). So, what I'd like to do is install W7 upgrade while iTunes is still in place and take a chance that iTunes will still be working. And, if it isn't after the upgrade, so be it.

As far as I know, iTunes will work after the upgrade just fine. It is advised that you use the "Deauthorize computer" function in iTunes before upgrading, and then you can reauthorize when the upgrade is complete.

If necessary, I find that reinstalling ITunes is never a problem. Just backup your files and copy them back into the same folders after install and iTunes will find and autoload them once installed, including album art if you wish. I haven't even had to go find the iTunes storage folders - the app finds them itself.

Others may have more pointers.

Thanks, all. I finished the upgrade not too long ago and checked out iTunes (9) functionality. No problem. Windows 7 upgrade installed with iTunes in place. The only "problem" was that during the install, when compatability was being checked, it was recommended that iTunes be uninstalled. Pay no attention to it as there were no problems.

I would now venture to say that if one has any 9 version of iT, sucdh an installation will not cause headaches.
