upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to windows 7 professional

Can I not go to a site and do a simple upgrade from home premium to professional and pay accordingly?
It appears I cannot unless I pay approx. £330 for a new OS.

The problem I have got I recently upgraded my RAM from 12gb to 32gb, apparently the Home premium will only use 16gb. Is this correct? professional will run 32gb!!!!!

Help would be appreciated. Thank you

The Microsoft "anytime upgrade" for Windows 7 has been discontinued. You will, apparently, have to buy a new version. However, there may still be "OEM" versions available and they are less than the full versions. The only difference is the OEM can only be used on the PC it is first installed, just like the original "OEM" version that came with your Dell.

What are doing or going to do that will require that much memory? I have 16GB installed on my recording studio PC and have never used over 7GB of RAM.

I had an opportunity to buy 32gb of ram at a much reduced price , so I took that opportunity.
At least I wont have to upgrade the RAM memory for some considerable time.
So if I have understood you correctly I might as well not bother changing OS as you are only using 7gb.

The 7GB was the most I ever used and that was with a very large Recording Project with lots of MIDI. Normally, I rarely go over 3 or 4GB.

So yes, unless you have specific application for the large amount of memory there is no reason to upgrade.

Only the Upgrade/Full key is need.
Anytime upgrade only adds-on the Programs & Features from version to version.

You will have a hard time finding a Anytime Upgrade to buy, as Windows 8/8.1 is out.

The motherboard has to support 32 GBs of RAM

what does it now say on the computer properties page ?

Is it now saying 16 GB with nothing next to it saying ( XX Usable ) ??

As Jack states, you are fine, you could always get OEM Professional in the future.

I have 32 GBs only because I didn`t want any empty slots, Oh and apparently I like to AddRAM
