Upgrade installed Win 7 64 bit to UEFI?

Is it possible to "upgrade" Win 7 64 bit to using UEIF? I have a Asus mob that can run UEFI installations of Windows. I have recently purchase a new Win 7 64 bit CD. I would like NOT to do a new clean install just switch to UEFI. Thanks for any input.

Hello JM, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Unfortunately, you would only be able to do a clean install to use UEFI since during the UEFI installation it would convert the disk to GPT instead of MBR.

In addition you can reinstall in UEFI mode using the existing Win7 license. It isn't necessary to buy a new copy, which you can use elsewhere.

If you need an installer for your licensed version its provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will also help you get a perfect install even for retail.

If you have Windows 7 installed, & two HDD's, you can clone Legacy to UEFI.
