my desktop is Dell XPS 730. it currently using Vista 32 bits. Everything runs very slow and none of games are runnable due frames dropping, skipping, and freezing even after I installed new Hard Drive. I decided upgrade to Windows 7 64 bits would help with running minecraft game without issue.

I downloaded Windows 7 USB DVD download tool and Windows 7 64 bits ISO. it installed into flash drive successful but it came with bootsect error. So I looked around for it and found here http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/54443-32-bit-bootsect.html

I downloaded "bootsect7600x86.zip". I right clicked and clicked on Properties and clicked unblock then applied and clicked ok. Then opened and I only find Bootsect exe file, nothing else. so I clicked that and command prompts came up and disappeared really instant and nothing ever happened. What am I missing? I also need Window 7 64 bits for my laptop after new HDD arrive. Just needed to make USB bootable somehow.

EDIT: I did right clicked on that exe file and did not see "run as admin"

EDIT2: Forgot to add, do I need to have product key code? Im upgrading my desktop from vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit

The term is bit, not bits ;)

Use WintoBootic to put the iso on the flash drive, it works perfectly everytime.

WiNToBootic bootable usb drive windows vista/7/8 - Bootable USB | Bootable USB

Where are you downloading the iso from, I would download it again and check the size when you`re done.

Home Premium and Professional 64 Bit are both 3.09 GBs

forgot to add. do I need to use product key code from behind of desktop on label? im upgrading from vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit. Label said Windows VISTA OMA

The sticker on the pc will be for Vista, you will have to buy windows 7 if you want to activate it, if not you only have 30 days to use it.

is there way to test if windows 7 64 bit will work on my laptop which had windows 7 64 bit on it before HDD died? I wanna to test to make sure ISO is legit.

I think im fine with re-install vista after 30 days but i wonder if upgrading to window 7 will help run games smoothly without freezing/skipping frames? I probably will consider buying key code if it does improve.

Wait a minute, what operating system is listed on the COA ?

If the pc came with Windows 7 installed it will be fine to re install it, I`m confused as to why you would even ask

Installing windows 98 is better then using Vista :D

No, there is no way to test it, you test it by installing it.

From what I can find, that machine only came with Vista or XP.

My desktop XPS 730 came with vista product key code. My laptop came with windows 7 key. Im waiting on new laptop HDD to arrive and I want to upgrade my desktop. Windows 98? isn't that way older than Vista? Will windows 98 make minecraft runs better?

It was a joke. Anything is better then Vista.

Why don`t you put the Windows 7 iso on a dvd, it`s so much easier to install windows from a dvd for a novice.

You have a key for Vista so that`s what you should install on the XPS until you buy Windows 7.
