My daughters laptop is a Dell E6500 with Vista 32 bit that has always run less than ideal. I want to upgrade to W7 Pro. I want to completely delete the Dell OS and install fresh. To do this will I need a full retail disk or an upgrade disk? The disk that came with the Dell does not include an activation key as it is a "reinstallation disk". Thanks for any help.

You probably couldn't find a retail Windows 7 nowadays even if you wanted to.

You can buy an OEM Win 7 easily and do a clean install with it. You'll get a new Product Key with it.
