I have a Sony Vaio Notebook with original 320GB ATA disk running at limit. So I decided to upgrade to new Seagate Momentus XT - a hibrid 500GB disk (4GB in SSD). I used Partition Wizard Home Edition to copy all partitions from old to brand new disk - I had to put my new disk at HDD docking station to reach it by USB port.

After that I exchange the disks and voilà - booting my Linux works !!! Booting the Windows 7 Ultimate - all seams ok but it stucks at black panel with those lights that remember "cylonics eyes" - them I started it in safe mode - it goes fine until something after classPNP.sys that is the last thing that seams is loaded ... then nothing ...

I tried everything - reinitialized new disk and try EASEUS ... forget it - same trash ...

After 2 days and nothing I give up ! Please ... someone had same trash problem ?

Regards and thank you for any suggestion !!

You need to CLONE the drive or use a drive image program make a COMPLETE image of ALL the partitions, at the same time, and then LOAD that image on the new drive.

Just copying over partitions does not work, as you have found out.
When copying some things do not get placed in the correct spots on the new drive, like the MBR. That has to be in a specific area of the drive for Windows to boot properly.
