Im replacing a Nvidia GT 640 with a Nvidia GTX 650 ti. I believe both cards use the same series 600 drivers. Do I need to uninstall my existing driver only to replace it with the same driver.

What drivers are you running? The latest is 335.23, link. I'd recommend uninstalling the drivers and performing a fresh install when Windows detects the card anyway.

Thanks for that. Im using the latest driver but was a bit concerned there might be a conflict with the new card.
I will play safe and uninstall before I remove the GT 640. Would you uninstall and delete the driver or will just uninstalling suffice

Make sure to uninstall the 640 via Device Manager before physically removing it, this will remove the card from your system and remove the drivers for you.

Isnt there a feature in device manager that gives the option of uninstalling and deleting the driver

There is, but best practice is to uninstall the card itself (as it will be removed from the machine anyway) and that will uninstall the driver as well. When the new card is added Windows will then detect it and install drivers for you, you can then update the drivers to the newest version.
