USB device messages about faster USB 2.0?

Hello,
I have never paid any attention to USB before, but now am becoming concerned. My home built has two front USB ports, a USB port on a multi-reader adapter and several on the back. I am using one rear mounted port for a wireless mouse, another for a Canon Printer and another for an old Epson Scanner.
I occasionally get a message about being able to speed up the USB ports? Have no USB 3.0!
Under Device and Printers I have a "Mass Storage Device" which I don't have a clue about what it is or anything, but I believe it may refer to the multi-reader.......
In Device Manager I have a plethora of entries....

None of which I understand. Having looked at the tutorial section, I get a drift that there may be unnecessary entries that may cause problems.
I'd like to know what that Mass Storage Device is, or how to find out for sure. And to make certain that the USB entries are correct and updated to USB 2.0 if possible.
I would appreciate any assistance!
Glenn

Hmmm, interesting about the Linux! Yes, I'll get a usb 3.0 eventually mainly for an external backup drive.
Thanks again for your help!
