USB Devices not detected

Hello,

I apologize if this has already been covered somewhere. I wasn't able to find anybody who was having my same issue.

I am having some trouble with Windows recognizing USB devices. I will plug a device in, hear Windows acknowledge it, and then nothing.

I then check in Device Manager and Disk Management and there is nothing. There is also no safe device eject icon in the system tray.

The only way that I am able to get Windows to recognize these devices is to uninstall and reinstall the Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller in device management. The reinstall, of course, is automatically done right after I have uninstalled it. At this point (after a few seconds), I will hear Windows register the host controller, and then it will automatically install drivers. Shortly after, Windows will detect my external hard drive/flash drive, and AutoPlay will pop up.

I then go to transfer a file, and all seems to be going well for the first few seconds, then the transfer speeds drop to that of full-speed USB.

Reboot.

On startup, the PCI to USB Host Controller installs more drivers, and then tells me that I will need to reboot.

Reboot.

Back to the desktop. Drives that have been plugged in through the whole ordeal are finally recognized, and transfer at Hi-Speed. Very strange.

I've already taken a look around in BIOS for USB transfer speeds - I am not given the option. I've updated all available drivers for my system, and there was nothing that would have addressed this issue.

Has anybody experienced anything similar to this?

Thanks, I'll give them a shot. Yes, I have no problems at all using different PC's. I've tried all the slots that aren't occupied by mouse and keyboard.

That eliminates issues with the USB devices then I think.
I forgot, Welcome to Seven Forums.
