Solved USB keyboards not working.

I have HP usb keyboard model-FL799PA#ACJ, it has in-built USB port to connect other devices but it never get worked...
Main issue is that since last day my usb keyboard is not working, when I jerk its cable near joint of keyboard it gets connected but again gets disconnected. I have connected my keyboard to Belkin mini usb hub & it worked fine until yesterday.
I tried checking this problem on other laptop and it was same problem, the moment I jerked its cable, connection was done,lights lit up and again its dead. On my laptop I even tried to uninstall all keyboard drivers & rebooted laptop,then re-installed but this problem of loose connection persist. If I hold its cable in peculiar angle near keyboard it works fine but how long I would hold it, as soon as I let of cable go its dead.
Please Sevenforums tell how to treat this inconsistent connection of my keyboard.

I would suggest a new keyboard as it sounds like its on the way out, if not gone already. Loose wires inside/faulty broken connection something along those lines. Sounds like you've already tried the standard fixes, drivers etc. so I'm looking at the hardware itself. I could be wrong, but...........

I agree with indianacarnie. If you are experiencing the same hardware issue on multiple machines, 9 times out of 10 you are looking at an issue with the hardware. Especially considering that you are able to temporarily fix the issue by holding the cable at a certain angle. I'm guessing that a wire in the keyboard is about to completely disconnect and when you hold it at that certain angle, it's back where it should be, but when you let go it's disconnecting again.

This keyboard was lying unused from many months, but now I am using it for Call of Duty 1,2,3 ,Farcry3 and typing matter since 5-6 months, even after rigorous gaming for hours together it didn't said ouch but yesterday when I picked this keyboard from desk and placed in lap of my 7 yrs niece for basic typing, it worked at that time also, she used keyboard under my guidance but later I kept it backed on desk then connection and disconnection occurred.
Now I have kept cable tilled coiled condition so connection seems intact and keyboard works fine ,but when I touch that cable while pressing HOME or END key during my typing pace it get dead then hardware removal notification sounds then after 1-2 sec again keyboard alive as lights are lit then hardware connected notification sounds.
Also I have installed USB Safely Remove software is install, does that interfere with smooth connection ?

I still believe that your problem is hardware related, especially if pressing certain keys is causing further issues. If you have had the keyboard for a while and given it a lot of use, I am not surprised to see it slowly getting some hardware issues. As far as the USB software, I do not see that being an issue with your connection, as it only occurs when your wire is hanging loose or you are pressing certain keys. This is assuming I understand you correctly, but if I were you I would try out a different keyboard on the machine you are having issues with. If nothing goes wrong with that keyboard I would purchase a new keyboard for your machine when you get the chance.

Is this directly connected or are you using a HUB. If you are using a HUB then especially if other devices are connected you will need power -- self powered hubs are OK for say a keyboard / mouse / external small USB self powered pocket size HDD (only one at a time though).

I'd suggest your Belkin Hub is going defective or the USB cable is becoming loose. Can you swap cables.

Hi Jimbo,
I have connected to Belkin hub with dell mouse, hp keyboard & mini cooling fan. But none of usb port are loose, but cable of keyboard seem problematic. Cable from point of origin near keyboard is looks perfect but if i disturb it or shake its angle then keyboard is disconnected!!!
Right now I don't disturb or change position of my keyboard nor touch its cable then it works fine, but I am concern about its functioning in future...hope it last longest...

problem is with the cable & its origin from keyboard, coz pressing any button doesn't makes whole keyboard dead, its just some loose wires in cable which remain intact in specific position. Do you know how to get it fix or is it possible to replace only cable?
I can't afford now to buy new keyboard, If this one bugs me lot then I will get it fixed from local technician & even then it doesn't works then I will buy wireless one...

If you are good with wiring and pin layouts (in this case, the pin layout of a USB connection pin), then you could probably open up the end of the USB cable and make sure that all the wires are fully connected and not loose inside. But due to this hassle, I imagine that to get someone to fix it you'd be charged almost as much as, or more than, you could get a temporary cheap keyboard. You can get a standard keyboard for around $10 that would last you at least a year or more, until you could buy another nice one.

If you were willing to attempt this yourself, this is a layout of the USB pins and the color coating of the wires: USB Wiring Diagram USB Design book connection diagram

If the connection problem is at the keyboard-end of the USB cable, then I'm not even sure myself how those pins match up, as they are probably keyboard (or at least brand) specific.

I hope this is helpful to you in deciding what you'd like to do. I can also link you a cheap keyboard if you want to go that route.

Ok...
This interruptions of keyboard made my temper high & banged it on table...
Anyway I will run it on tilted angle cable position until it gets dead forever, coz repairing will cost more than keyboard itself. Right now I don't have urgent need for replacement so I can manage with it.
