Hello,
I am normally very good at fixing my computer but this problem has me stumped. My custom built computer which has worked for a couple of years now is having a major problem. I have tried several mice, including replacing the one that has worked for a good year with two separate USB mice, one wired, one wireless. I also replaced the keyboard which was getting a bit old with a new wired USB keyboard. The problem persisted so I eventually gave up and replaced the Motherboard. Initially the mouse and keyboard worked without a problem but then I moved back to university where the problem first started and it started again. What is more strange about this problem is that the keyboard works before windows starts, but not completely. I have gone into BIOS but there is an odd problem where several of the keys on the keyboard do not work, including the up key and f10, which makes saving any changes impossible. I cannot work out a way to fix this, unfortunately I do not have any remote desktop software installed on my desktop so I cannot fix it like that. MY last bet is to reinstall windows, although I'm not sure if that would fix it as the keyboard is acting up in BIOS. I have tried unplugging the desktop and holding the power button for 10 seconds, to no avail. If anyone could help I would be very grateful, thanks.
