USB Microphone (logitech) won´t work

This is my system (the microphone works on all distributions of Win7, I tested it on several other pcs and laptops/ 32 Bit and 64 Bit:

Nebtook
Acer Aspire 1 150L (upraded by myself to Win 7 Professional 32 Bit
1,6 GHZ intel atom (they call it dual core but that is somewhat wrong)
1 GB Ram DDR3 (+ 4 GB Ram Flash memory Card Ready Boost, works perfectly:D)
Realtek High Definition Audio (onboard)
Intel Onboard graphic device
500 GB Hard Drive
built in microphone
built in camera

That is the problem:
I bought a Logitech USB Microphone.
A friend of mine went to Britain and we use to chat with each other once a month. As we are more than 3 people when we are in contact a USB Microphone proved to be better than a Headset or a normal Micro.
We used to use a headset with the jack entries of the laptop and it worked, but the sound quality was really bad. So we bought the usb micro wich did not work.

Now I have this microphone and 5 people can talk and the quality is perfectly (he says that he can hear us as if we are there). However the microphone works on every goddamn system except my netbook. As the netbook is really easy to transport that would have been our choice, but for some reason windows 7 does not recognize the device.

If i plug it into the USB device Win7 says the following:
Device not found.

There is no driver download possible as Logitech claims that they are not allowed to provide a driver because Microsoft has the cophyright for USB drivers. (However there is a driver, but you cannot download it).
REaltek told me the same!
Microsoft wrote: "There is no such driver update in the moment, but the device works. Try to reinstall USB drivers."

I am desperately searching for these drivers and cannot find any. If I plug in Headsets in the jack devices it works, for some Reason the USB ports fail me. All other devices work in all of the usb ports, except microphones!

I tried everything. I disabled the built in microphone, I downloaded all new drivers for the chipset, soundcard, I even updated my bios. I restarted my system with a plugged in device, or unplugged device. The device is not in the mute modus (as I use the microphone on other systems to, where no driver installation was needed. I know the device and I am pretty darn good with computers)

Is there anybody out there who knows what I might have forgotten? Is there any possibility I might want to try out? A software that detects devices that can be recommended? (I tried driver genius pro and endet up with updated drivers, which did not work either.)

Thanks

I think you are confusing "USB drivers" with "DEVICE drivers". There are NO 3rd party USB drivers, just the default built in Microsoft drivers. However, device drivers are another issue - many are built in "plug and play" drivers and others require vendor drivers for the device to work.

One thing to try, plug in the microphone and then go to the Device Manager and Display the USB device and if there is an "unknown device" entry, RIGHT click on the entry and then LEFT click on "uninstall". Disconnect the USB mic then restart the PC. After Windows starts, connect it and see if it works. Sometimes the status will get corrupted in Windows and this procedure and if that is the case this procedure will correct it.

I did not know that fact yet. Thanks.

I tried your advice, but after reastarting windows still says: Driver unknown.

Ok here is an information that logitech send me (I must translate it into English):
"There might be problems with onboard sound devices. If you plug in the microphone some parts of your device are set to "mute", therefore Win7 does not recognize the device"

I am sorry, but that does not sound correct to me... I had a look at my device and everything is set to extremely loud. Could the built in microphone be a problem? Is there a way to reinstall Microsoft USB support?

I managed to fix my issue with my Logitech Desktop Mic and Windows 7 last night. I recently had an issue upon upgrading to 7 where my XBOX 360 Controller and my USB Speakers would conflict. One of them would work, but not both. It would recognize both as USB Audio device. To bypass this I simply used a USB Hub (powered or non) and hooked my 360 controller through there. Problem solved.

Ran into a similar issue you guys were having with the Mic with mine as well, had already bought the hub for the X360 controller, so I figured hey what the heck. Plugged the mic into the hub instead of directly to the MB, and BAM fully functional Mic.

This may not work for everyone, but if you have USB speakers this should help you out with a bind. (May also occur with other USB devices, was just the speakers for me), so try unplugging everything but your Mic and see if it could be a conflict
