USB Mouse disconnecting and reconnecting

Hello. I'm aware there's already plenty of documentation on this but I've tried literally everything I can find from a google search and nothing has helped.

I've tried:

New mouse, updating/reinstalling drivers, removing all the USB entries in device manager and letting them reinstall after deleting a file (i forget the name) that contains information about USB devices so windows regenerates it, reinstalling windows, updating windows, turning off all possible related power management options, different USB ports, registry cleaning, microsoft "hotfixes", and checking for any corrupted values in my registry.

The exact mouse I'm using is the beyondtek z-767 mouse & keyboard. The keyboard works perfectly, the mouse is the only device that reconnects every so often. The intervals are inconsistent ranging from a few seconds to a few hours. It started happening when the mouse was brand new and with a brand new windows installation. It happened with the mouse I was using before too so I don't think it's a hardware issue.

My computer is a Toshiba satellite c850-132, running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me how to fix this.

Hello and welcome BC mate sounds like (to me) the mouse needs returning to the seller or manufacturer if this has been happening since new then it is probably some internal issue (in the mouse).

PS Meant to ask are you using separate ports or a hub??

Is there nothing else on my system that could be the cause? It used to do it with a different mouse too.

And no, I'm using the ports built into my laptop.

Ok BC now could you send a pic of / or quote the PART NO: from the sticker on the bottom of the machine because that denotes where the machine was either made for was made for and consequently that is where we are going to get the right drivers for that machine.

Is there any chance of a pic of that sticker as I am having not much luck in tracking down that PART NO: and I have your profile in America or Canada and it is important we try to track that number which I have entered into the Toshiba site support search but it comes up as invalid??


To me it looks to have too many alpha / numeric ID symbols - the 8e on the end of the PSK bit seems odd as it is usually only alpha with no numeric component.

Hmmm well done I wonder why I couldn't find it?? So I shall have to go offline for a while but will have a think on it but am suspecting something on the board

I believe its only listed on the .co.uk site.

An update on my situation, I believe it could indeed be damage to the mouse during transport or something along those lines, I just now got a notification about a device that was plugged into port 3. After looking in device manager noted that port 3 is the port I often use for my mouse other than when I was checking to see if the problem I described in the OP also happened with other ports. "Code 43".

Going to get a new mouse when I have the spare cash again and see if the problem persists. Either way I'll post back in here when I do unless the thread's really old by then.

Tested with another brand new mouse, still happens :/ Problem definitely lies with my computer. The thing is though, it also happens on other operating systems. I actually first noticed the problem while on linux (sorry for not mentioning that before, realising its quite relevant info).

could the problem be with something at a lower level than my os, like the motherboard/BIOS or something?

Ok mate now I am guessing it is probably the port you are using or some other motherboard issue - that could just be about anything.

Now does the machine have Blu tooth capability? if so then a Blu tooth mouse that does not require a dongle should bypass any port issue. I have found them far better than any wired or wireless mice - for laptops anyway.
