USB not seen in My Computer

This one beats me. I have a new 32GB USB that is formatted NTFS and shows up as the 'F' drive in Disk management and shows as being 'Online'. But it doesnt appear at all in My Computer on my Samsung RV510 Laptop running W7 Home. When inserting the USB you get that familiar 'ding' sound and message saying the driver has been successfully installed. The device shows up as working perfectly in 'Properties'. Other USBs all work perfectly in all USB ports.



The same thing happens on my Laptop when running W10 (same laptop different SSD).


But it does show up and works perfectly in my desktop also running W7 Home.



Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried disabling and reenabling. Neither worked. Tried it in different USB ports. None worked. Tried making it 'Offline' then 'Online'. Didnt work. Tried deleting and remaking the partition. Didnt work. Tried updating the Driver. Didnt work driver was current. Also tried the many suggestions shown on the net. Nothing I've found works.



Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Presumably this is a thumb drive, is that correct. You could try formatting it as FAT32 to see if that works. If not then the drive may be faulty.

Thanks. I'll try the FAT32, but how can the drive be faulty if it works on the Desktop?

Oops, sorry I misread your first post.

I agree with Ranger. Format it as Fat32 that is probably the default.
If it doesn't work, try to check (on the desktop) if isn't fake.

Thanks for all the replies. I got it working but I dont really know why. Tried the FAT32 and it didnt work then tried using Mini Tool which could see it and tried renaming it and Activating it. I deleted the partition. Made a new partition and other stuff which I cant even remember. Did all that several times finally I labeled it the 'F' drive which I'd already tried but this time bingo. It popped up in My Computer but as as the 'D' drive. So in truth I'm just confused. But at least I can see and use it.

You shouldn't trust it until you do a complete test with H2testw.
Have seen many big flash disks (16, 32, 64..) that were in fact 2G or even less.
