use hard drive for speed boost

hi, this has probably been asked alot, but im dualbooting with win 2k and win 7 (7600) Is it possible to use my win2k partition for speed boost? my wifi card ocupies my pcmcia port, so i cant plug my flashdrive in because i use a usb 2.0 card. this computer has on-board usb 1.1

Your idea, while workable, is not valid. You will actually slow down your system. ReadyBoost takes advantage of the flash memory speed, which an HDD does not have in comparison. Also, ReadyBoost involves simultaneous read/writes over two subsystems. If you use an HDD, these actions will require additional wait states.

You could invest in a PCMCIA USB port card and a USB wifi device. You will then be able to do both, wifi and ReadyBoost.

Your machine would likely benefit from ReadyBoost.

As ram goes up benifit goes down. on 32 bit Id guess >2gigs and the effect decreases.

That is because ReadyBoost, in conjunction with SuperFetch, is integral to the design of Windows 7. It is not solely for 'low RAM systems', although the effect on those systems may appear more beneficial. The MS engineers did some good work here.
