Solved User Administrator Account won't allow Administrator Privilages

Hi,

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and Office 2007. I installed a Bluetooth transceiver recently and developed a problem when replying to email in Outlook 2007. When I select an email to reply, the email editor pops up with a "Custom UI Runtime Error in Send to Bluetooth." The solution to this issue is to disable the COM Add-In "Send to Bluetooth" in one of the other Office applications such as Word.

However, when I attempt to uncheck the "Send to Bluetooth" option, I get an indication from a pop-up warning box that "This add-in is installed for all users on this computer, and can only be connected or disconnected by an administrator.

I am the only user on this computer and my user account is an administrator account. I have the system to start to the desktop without any intermediate log-ins or any intermediate screens.

How do I let Word know that I am an administrator so I can disable the COM Add-In and stop the offending pop-up every time I reply to an email?

You could try right clicking the program and choose run as administrator. Then try to disable the addon.
Although with Microsoft software it usually is smart enough to prompt you with uac when you need to change something like that.

Just to add to Andrews post:

In Windows 7, even when you are logged in as administrator, UAC no longer gives you “Full” administrator rights.
To get all of the access you now also have to “run as administrator”

So you may need to configure Office to "Always Run as an Administrator":

1. Goto Start and locate office 2007, right-click the application's shortcut, click Properties
2. In the Properties box click the Compatibility Tab.
3. Now you can either set for Current user or all users.

For Current User check the "Run This Program As An Administrator" box, then click OK.

For All Users, right-click the Office application and select properties.
Select "Change Setting For All Users" at the bottom.
select the "Run This Program As An Administrator" check box, and then click OK twice.

You can also hold down the Ctrl key while you click to open outlook to open as administrator or is that safe mode ?

Thanks guys,

When I right click the application icon, in this case MS Office 2007 Outlook, I don't get an option to "run as administrator." I had to right click and select properties and do it under the compatibility tab as Dave suggested. That solved that portion of my problem. If I right click properties and select run as administrator, I can edit the options I wasn't able to edit before.

However, it turns out that unchecking that option wasn't the solution to my issue with the pop-up error box, "Custom UI Runtime Error in Send to Bluetooth" that occurred every time I clicked reply to an email.

The solution to the pop-up error box in Outlook 2007 was to uncheck the "Show add-in user interface errors" under Outlook/Tools/Options/Other Tab/Advanced Options.

I've stopped the pop-up notifications, but I don't think I solved the underlying problem.

The pop-up error notification box was titled: "Custom UI Runtime Error in Send to Bluetooth" and indicated the following:

Error found in Custom UI XML of "Send to Bluetooth":

Line: 1
Column: 143
Error Code 0x80004005
Failed to find Office control by ID
ID: FileSendMenu

Two buttons: "OK" & "OK to All"

If you click OK, the error box notification goes away until the next time you reply to an email.

Is there a solution to the underlying problem of "Failed to find Office control by ID?"

I don't think this is a general error.

It's a specific "Send to Bluetooth," Office 2007, and the File.Send Menu error.

I found this:

I don't understand the full issue yet, but I think the above link is part of the solution.
