Solved User profile service service failed the login

I am trying to login and am getting an error that says: user profile service service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded. Anyone know why this would occur after years of the same password? I am totally locked out. Thanks for any help.

Hmmm this is a lot of info for a locked computer. I've restarted and logged off several times and get the same box for owner login - there is no option for admin or anything else. If I click on password reset it asks me to put in a disk that I created to reset passwords which is non-existent. I've also tried to hold down the windows and type r but that does nothing.

Hello Yankeegirl, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You may be able to use step 3 in the "In Preparation" section at the top of the tutorial to be able to enable the built-in Administrator at boot, log on to that account, and do the rest of the tutorial.

I was able to access safe mode after shutting down several times. I tried the registry editor but under the profile list where the long line of characters are there is no error on the right only one that says temp.owner-PC.

If you like, you could also do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you got this error to fix it.

Make sure windows is up to date (windows update), and as a precaution scan a full scan with your antivirus software.
