Solved Video card vs graphic card?

Based on the pounding my scientific brain has been taking. The MSI N210 PCI-E card that nottaclue9 bought will NOT fit in the empty regular PCI slot that shows on the pic that was posted. That makes me think that the only option for a video card in this slimline computer is a standard regular PCI card.

I saw that, but I don't see an AGP slot, unless it is hidden by the HD. and then it would have to be 1/2 of a one half height card to fit. ( really 1/4th height under the HD) :huh:

Cannot find my video card! Am doing simple searches & very specific searches, as above. Tell me what I am doing wrong or what I should try instead. This model isn't at Newegg anymore. I'm using their invoice to try to access it, but they don't give me much to go on. So I'm using everything on the box that looks like a model number.

Right. I have looked at those, Doc, but you said "exactly." None matches mine exactly. I cannot find one that has the "1R2" & "1R33" widgets. Most of those also have short blue, uh, "silos" on them. Mine has 3 silver and red silos.

Don't you just hate to work with people who don't know proper terminology?

I have to take the dog out. I'm not ditching you; will be back in about half an hour. I can take several photos of the one I have if you like. I'm now wondering if it's the right one at all...

The model is right on the front of the box, jus tell us and I`ll find it.

For example, mine is an MSI GT 610. (Replaced with a PNY Quadro 600)

If you plan on still using your vga cable, then you have to use both of the low profile brackets, you will have to take the vga connector off the large bracket and connect it to the other bracket with the one hole in it, then hook the gray ribbon cable back on the video card. Then install the card using both brackets on the back of the computer. Just like Mike`s pic in post #29. But I would just use the dvi port and a dvi cable if your monitor has a dvi port (most likely does)

Why buy a new video card and use the vga port ? It`s pointless. But if all you have is a vga cable then use that.

Do I need to post a side view of the opened-up tower? My computer guy said there was an AGP slot when he looked inside. Said, in fact, that I should have purchased an AGP card??

:banghead: Post 53 looks like a white standard PCI slot next to the side of the case. The slot below that one seems to be obscured by the position of the HD that is mounted with some sort of bracket. If there is a brown AGP slot there that is slightly longer to the right of the white PCI slot, then YES the computer tech was correct about AGP. But, if so, the AGP card would need to be half height (low profile) & the short bracket. I have not seen a PCI-E slot yet in this slimline computer.

Here is the actual slot. The tower is on its side.
Where does one find a hex wrench small enough to remove the faceplace on that video card? Doll house supply store?

The two Blue plastic tabs marked # 1 in the black & white diagram I circled in purple look like they should be able to be pushed slightly in a direction that would cause the HardDrive to lift upwards. Then at the bottom end of the HD there looks to be about a 1.5 inch piece of curved metal (circled in Lime Green ) that is hooked to the back of the case. But it should lift away from the case with a slight upward tilted motion. Then if the HD can just be moved enough to get a pic of the area that has been hidden from view under it just might reveal the second motherboard slot. Be careful of the HD power cable & Data cable ( circled in Yellow ). These cables can be disconnected if necessary, like when you are replacing the HD. They are key coded with a small notch so they can be connected re-connected if necessary.

You don't need to remove the rear faceplate.

VGA video cable is circled in Aqua. Serial printer connection in Purple. Old type Com port in Green.

The actual video is built into the motherboard on this slimline, so there is NO video card to remove.
