video playback is laggy after clean install

i recently reinstalled win 7 on my system and ever since i have had video playback issues. my hdd hybrid seems to be slower than it was before. i cant even play a 245mb avi file without it lagging out.
these speeds are slow arent they?

Hi seems to be allot of definitions of fresh installs,
Did you wipe the hdd and reload windows from a disk or did you restore to a factory partition ?
If you wiped the drive did you test the drive before loading windows ?

Are these videos/ movies on the same drive as the os ?

Im pretty sure its my hard drive, i have a seagate momentus xt 750 hybrid and i dont know why its speeds have dropped significantly
