Views on proposed new card and psu

why 600w, looking over your listed syem specs, a 450W will do just fine, 500W is all you will really need, 600W is plain overkill, as for the video card, its a solid card, a decent lower midrange card.

ok im a PC tech run my own bussiness and i can gurantee 500W is all you need, your not going crossfire, you mentioned single card, singlecard means 600W is overkill, also dont trust PSU calculator its the most flawed broken POS on the internet and highly inaccure of real world data, its like running furmark to find how hot your video card gets.

I still have a diamond hd5770 as a back up it is a fine card.

The psu does matter I tryed to start my new rig with a 450 watt psu and i was running a hd5670 1gb wouldn't even turn on,or go into set up or anything, I had then purchased a 600 watt psu problem solved

You might not need 600 watts but sometimes running the minimal power can put ware on the psu as well more power less likley to fry the psu or anything else .....

PLAIN AND SIMPLE ... PLAY IT SAFE besides that note you have head room for a higher clocking card if you decided to get something better nothing wrong with plaining ahead ... alot of smart people do

ps the hd5670 needed no additional power hence i say psu does matter

i don't mind upgrading the Psu the price im paying for the card on discount buys the proposed psu so i will not be paying extra, better to have a bit more than less power that's for sure.

Before i got my new card i had a 600 watt psu

Once i got the new one and new cpu i stepped up my psu to 700 watts

I figure better hardware needs better power ,if you are looking for top performance

I agree, it is best not to run a stock (ie. cheap) PSU at full capacity anyway, margin is a good thing, they will run cooler and deliver a more stable supply as well. You may want to add devices, todays midrange graphics card may well require doubling up tommorow! If you look around you may soon be able to get the 5870 instead of the 5770 for a good price as I think it's being wound down.

well silly old me i dont need a new card! i was only getting one so i can run digital to my new screen i have hdmi + vga +dvi-d on the card HD5550 which i have installed now. but no hdmi input on the new screen (i have analogue and dvi-d on the screen) so i can run a hdmi to dvi-d cable !!! so both my screens(i use two monitors) can run digital signal from card, just saved lots of $$$$$$£££££££ !!!!!!!

I think it's an excellent choice . Leaves room for future upgrades.

i totally forgot the card i have has hdmi so yes saved some money and can use that for something else when needed.
