Hello. My laptop currently has a virus that hides all the files of a certain USB drive whenever I insert it into my laptop. I tried scanning my laptop but the virus is still there. I used Norton Internet Security and Malwarebytes. Any solutions for this? I'm planning to lend my laptop to my cousins since they need it for school but I don't want to lend them a laptop that would ruin their USB devices.

If you're talking about viruses that hides files on the flash drive itself, you're in luck.

First, try scanning the flash drive for viruses using various anti-virus apps (ex. avast!, AVG, Avira, Kaspersky, etc.) If no viruses are found, try scanning your whole hard drive, and make sure that the virus definitions of the antivirus program is updated.

If it does detect viruses, whether on the flash drive or in your hard drive, delete them.

If it does not, however, proceed downloading the .zip file attached below.

Open it, and run the .exe file. No installation required.

Click the 'English' button, then click the 'Recovery the hide files' button. Select the drive that has the hidden files, then click OK.

Wait for the program to finish, then it is done!

Usually, recovered files can be found in a folder with an empty name.

Reply if the program didn't work.

Peace & Sandwiches,

Tucker

Thank you for the quick response! I have no problem with recovering the files since I can use command prompt easily. The virus just hides them. But the thing is, it keeps on happening. After I make them re-appear, if I plug it on the same laptop, the files will be hidden again. I just don't want to keep doing the command prompt thing.
