Voice Events instead of Sound Events

Posting a comment (on the thread above) reminded me of an idea I had when W7 came out.
Apart from the Windows 7 OS Tan theme, I am unaware of any Voice Event packs.

I used some wav files that I found, to add voice alerts (instead of sounds) to my XP install.

When Windows 7 first came out, I thought that MS had missed an opportunity by not having them.
I would have thought, a lot of people would prefer voice announcements, to the nondescript sounds.

I wouldn't mind having Angelina Jolie (or Kate Beckinsale) announcing various PC events.

I'm sure a lot of Star Trek fans would like William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy or Patrick Stewart announcing events.
Die-hard Windows fanatics might even like hear Bill Gates make the announcements.

Obviously there would be cost issues involved.
They could have sold these packs for some nominal amount (e.g. $0.50 - $0.99 each) as downloads (just like music).

What do other people think?

I think you should be working at Microsoft. They want people like you.

It is a cool idea though...I've had in mind putting in all kinds of sounds from the Star Trek onboard computer so Windows would sound like an LCARS system.

Obviously the range of celebrities (actors, music stars, sports people) is almost endless.

It seems obvious to me.
One of the staples of Sci-Fi is talking computers (e.g. Alien, Star Trek, Blakes 7, Babylon 5).
If there were voice alerts, you wouldn't have to wonder what that strange sound meant, the message would tell you.

I'm not too bad at ideas.
I'm not so good at execution.
Actually that's a bit like my opinion of MS.

I wouldn't complain, if they threw a few dollars my way.

I play a lot of Visual Novels, which naturally lead me to ripping the various spoken lines out - been at this since the late 90s. Hugely NSFW though

You can try recording stuff from YouTube - all you need is something like Audacity in the background so you can clean up the sound you recorded. Advertisements especially tend to have funny and emphasized stuff.

Certainly you can rip the voices yourself, but I meant official Windows voice packs.
