Volume problems with Microsoft Headset.

Hello, i have a Microsoft LX-3000 Headset, sound and the mic are ok, but the volume buttons aren't working on 7 (ok on XP), and when I need to adjust the volume I need to set it on the control panel :shock:
Someone with the same issue?

Well I am in the same boat as you. Win 7 Ultimate and USB headdphones.

The inline volume of the USB headphones does not work on one of my machines but works on all others.

Plantronics nor Dell was helpfull.

First the USB headsets do NOT use a potentiometer for volume. They work like a USB kerboard.

They send a software code to windows which then in turns moves the windows software volume slider.

Is a software issue and not a Hardware issue.

I'm guessing the USB headsets have a simple hex code they send by default. If the usb or windows volume controls interpret this code the volume slider in windows will move each time you press the volume button on the headset.

That link is somehow broken on one of my win 7 machines. Probably some other software I installed is the issue.

Its very common problem and so far I have seen ZERO replies on how to fix.

It will take me some time debugging but it can be fixed.

All People that own a USB Headphones or keyboard and have lossed control function here it the EASY FIX!!

Resolve Hotkeys or Volume control keys not working on Microsoft keyboards

Restart the HID Human Interface Service


its in the services, if this is not running your USB headphone volume controles will not work.


Just start the service and you are golden
