I was using my laptop yesterday when I got the dreaded blue screen of death. I don't remember what it said exactly, but I ended up just restarting the computer. It loaded fine everything came up normal until I opened Chrome. That lasted all of two minutes before it crashed again. I restarted once again, except this time I tried running BIOS to see what the issue was and then I found that my OS was not found. I talked to a friend, and she mentioned that the hard drive might be corrupted.

After that, I took the computer apart and then put it back together, hoping that might help. But since I'm here posting to you guys, it did not. I'm not sure what I should do now, so any and all suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for the reply! I'm actually not able to get to anything except BIOS. I've tried booting from a CD, but that doesn't work either as the recovery disc I just made is for 64-bit.

The first thing I would have recommended (even before dismantling and reassembling your laptop):

Run the HDD manufacturer's Diagnostic and repair utility to check the HDD.

Even now you can do it since you must now be knowing the manufacturer of the HDD.

Yeah, that's possible. But I'm going to replace the cable that connects to the audio board to see if that helps, even temporarily. If not, then I will go ahead and get the new hard drive. Might as well try the least expensive solution first, right? :)
