Hi -

i have successfully followed the process to Setup VPN network.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...work-vpn-enable-incoming-vpn-connections.html

and then actually connect to VPN.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...work-vpn-enable-outgoing-vpn-connections.html

and it worked too!

but... right after i was connected i wasn't able to connect to the internet anymore... However, i was using teamviewer to remove control the PC while doing everything... Teamviewer connect was just live and it didn't got disconnected at all.

both pc's were on a totally different network/physical location.
both are Win 7 pc's
after i setup VPN... i went to my router and added port forwarding and everything else too.

Any tips?

Alright... i did some googling around an found the solution and it worked.

windows 7 - Why does connecting to my work VPN cause my internet to not work? - Super User

but this still didn't resolve my issue.

We use this software at work (Lan Messenger) LAN Messenger - Home

For local chats... this would just display about anyone who is on local network and put him in the list... what we are trying to do is connect to VPN so that the user can chat with others at work as the user is physically in... is it possible?

You might try looking in the network settings on the VPN, try changing from NAT mode to bridged mode which should allow the client to receive an IP from the host.

and i my friend i would do that????? :) :) :)

It should work if you configure the client computers to use the default gateway setting on the local network for Internet traffic and a static route on the remote network for VPN-based traffic.

On the Networking Tab of the VPN Properties, and uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network."

The settings are a bit different sometimes but it should be something like that.

You should know that access to a server through VPN's are purposely set up to not allow you to connect to the internet through their own servers unless they are purposely configured for this.

The server admin would have control over this.

In that case you need to have split tunneling working.

The following link talks about how to do this. Haven't messed with this myself but this seems to be what you are looking for.
