W7 and Security

For what? Incompatibility and missing viruses? ;)

NOD32 missing viruses? Um...OK. You've found your new messiah in Vipre and now your preaching it to the masses? If it works for you than hooray but it screwed me up and now I have to reinstall windows to get Acronis True Image to run the way it did when I used NOD32.

Relax guys...wow, go hug ESET and it will all be OK...

lol...y am I thinking about pots and kettles?

Just trying to lighten things around here. It seems anyone who uses ESET will defend it until the end of time and that's fine, but even though I bought a 2 user, 2 year license, I have stopped using it. Some don't seem to like the fact that I have stopped using it and I am telling it like it is about my issues with ESS as well as how well I have received Vipre.

Fact of the matter is, Vipre found things Nod32 missed. The support from ESET has been lacking, not just for me but for others. Read the response that some people get over at Wilder's. ESET sure seems to have a bit of an issue when someone questions them or their product (as some of the users here seem to as well).

In my tests, I find Vipre to be lighter on system resources, faster at scans and as mentioned, found things that Nod32 missed. Not to mention that the firewall portion of my purchased ESS does not work in Windows 7 when it comes to sharing folders. ESET knows this, they still haven't done anything about it and they have seemingly ignored a lot of posts from others about it.

Sorry, but ESET and Nod32 is not the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It's good to debate these things. Ask a question like "What's the best AV software" and you'll get different opinions. Then you need to weigh up the pros and cons and make up your own mind about it. For me, NOD32 has worked flawlessly for years, so if asked, I'm gonna answer "NOD32" doesn't mean I'm right, it's just my opinion.

hmm I may try the ESET software ever since I had XP on my computer I've been using Avast and even now on Windows 7 it runs great. Picks up everything that I've come across, never had an problems. Anyway cool thread, i love reading the discussion =P aslong as someone isnt being obnoxious and actually explaining their reasoning behind their opinion equals the best read =P

Thanks,
Kukag

I used AVG for 4 years, but one day I read somewhere that AVG missed a lot of viruses. So I went and did some research. I ended up with BitDefender 2010. I installed it yesterday on my windows 7 64bit .. it is working very nicely so far !
