I checked my PC just to be sure that it wasn't my fault.
I actually had two similar incidents ~5 years ago.

One time some bot(?) did send an email from my account (the email was in my Sent folder)!

If a person had accessed my account they would have seen how to send a more convincing email.
I always include a warning in my Subject line about attachments.
In the email itself I always describe/mention any attachments or links that it contains.

I have warned my friends that if they receive any emails that don't follow that pattern, they should destroy them and email me.

No vote here, Win2000 was my favorite of the past though of course out dated. After reading a few pages here it seems time to try Win10 evaluation on my old laptop. How bad could it really be

Well Dell must be doing something different. I keep reading windows 7 can't support new hardware. I am going to have to disagree with that. My all-in-one computer does. It supports windows 7 and above. It also supports a few Linux distros as well. I am sticking with windows 7.

I think i 'll be sticking with 7 till its support ends...
Have 4 laptops at home (one 2nd generation, two 3rd gen and one 4th gen). All have official support for 8 but all are rocking 7.

Now I see 10 may just be a preview, may be a waste of time with that.

The Consumer Preview is coming out next month. That would be good to try.

Folks have done upgrades from XP, Win7, and Win8 and they all worked.

But BEFORE you install Win10, understand that an Update does not allow you to go back to what you had before; instead, you have to do a clean install from scratch.

So, image off your existing install with something like Macrium Reflect before you do the upgrade. That only takes a few minutes and will be easy to restore later.

Four reasons why people will not need a smartphone:

1. Disabled and home bound. The computer is a nice way to be entertained and work.

2. A good computer station with a comfortable executive chair and cushioned foot rest

3. BIG screens! I could never enjoy working on anything smaller than 19 to 25" screens.

4. Cost too dang much in USA. Average ISP cost in the states is 45 dollars monthly. Add a smartphone to your monthly costs for G4 networks and now you're up to another 100 to 150 dollars. Total: 150 to 200 a month! That's just not justifiable for people who do not need a smartphone for work. My 12 year old Kyocera Cell Phone at $29.00 plus tax a month with Verizon works just fine for me. Even has voice dial and text messaging. (don't really do text messaging but love voice dialing.)

What other reasons do you feel a person would never need or want a Smartphone?

In the uk we have a better pricing structure - my unlimited fibre and home phone (including some free calls $40, My 600 minute unlimited text and data mobile contract £42

I used 600 minute plan for years then it was dumped and the only plans were 900 or 450
Euro/ u.s. dollars are about the same beside all of the freaking fee's..... which doubles what ever the quoted price is advertised :/

The market over here is extremely competitive, if they tried to sell at the prices you have an ISP here would go out of business very quickly

The prices I stated are the full price I'm charged, but of course I'm self employed so a hefty proportion of that can be classed as a business expense, as a tax write-off, so actual costs are even lower

I believe the fcc pretty much laughed at him and said prices for everyone would skyrocket

The infrastructure was settled by government here by the use of auctions for the licences needed to run an ISP service here, there were a limited number of UK wide licences available and they had set infrastructure build clauses in them. this means that each isp is legally obliged to work towards 100% coverage, in order to keep trading, the government sets the standards, and backs this with some financial aid to cover the remoter areas but the ISPs cover the main costs. the fact that there is no monopoly situation in any area means that the ISP have to win customers so prices are kept reasonable - by the way all the ISPs are making decent profits, so the system is win win in many ways

I do not want our government controlling the internet any more than they are doing now.
Every time the government controls something you loose choices and the price goes up.
The last proof of that is Obobo Care.

Having a government auction in this country would be nothing more than a bid for who could pay the highest bribes.
Then of course the next step would be if you wanted high speed internet their we be a extra tax that would have to be paid.
I would prefer the free market system. Competition in a free market is always the best way in my opinion.

Low and behold none of the several American companies got the bid.
It went to a foreign country just by luck because their bid was exactly $1.00 (yes one dollar) the lowest bid.
This auction bid system got this country $500.00 hammers and toilet seats.
It is hard to think what it would do to the internet services.

Unfortunately National security is an issue for all countries and it needs to be managed for the benefit of their citizens.

The control I'm talking about is not anything to do with the content or direct consumer pricing. It's related to the way that the actual backbone hardware was financed, rather than a total free for all, we had a sale of the right to run a company that obliged the ISPs to provide a certain level of system resources. the prices to the consumer is fully controlled by market forces, the fact that the contracts were for the whole UK added a good deal of competition into the mix, and this has kept prices down.

BTW the 4G auctions in 2013 raised approximately £5.5 Billion, [$8.5 Billion], which went into government funds to use for whatever they wanted it for so technically lowered taxes for the normal man in the street

If you had watched the movie "Independence Day", you would know the "real" reason why the government paid $500 for hammers. Who knows? It may have been the truth.

Surely your own example indicates that the lowest bid was $500/hammer?
Doesn't this also indicate that the other companies (US & Foreign) actually wanted >$500/hammer?
