....Hello friends...
I have a question...for to be 200% sure for the result.....so please don't send me in tutorials..I have read them.
If I have a back up made from the system W7 utility, "system image + backup" and I have "mess" with partitions -and not only- in my hard drive disk.
When I'll restore from this image...is it going to arrange EVERYTHING well...like it was before "mess"?
I mean the 100Mb reserve, MBR and BCD.....What also about the 20Gb recovery OEM partition?
Can someone tell me his experiences...And if so..what is the different from to "clone" the disk?
I just want to know what exactly I have in my hands....and..
Thank you very much.....

Restoring a system image will put your computer back to the way it was, when the image was made. So if you made the image after the partitions were, in your words, messed up, then that is how they will be after restoring the image. A clone is copying the exact contents of one drive to another, including the operating system, as well as all installed programs and data. A system image takes a snapshot of your drive and creates an image of it, which can restore your drive to the way it was, or be restored to a new drive.

Another option is to take the time to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
deleting all partitions during booted Custom Install to create new ones as you wish.

This would be the preferred choice if you're still running the corrupt Win7 Acer Pre-install with all the bloatware and useless duplicate utilities, and which no tech enthusiast would run.

...Thanks LittleJay ...so quick...answer is always nice...
So I got the image very early ..just after first updates....then happened many stories...
...like dual boot...after deleted second Os...and more...
So like you said W7 will arrange everything and get a system like it was in that time.
I have not to care to partition right or do anything ....just restoring.... Right?
The image is in an external drive in a special partition where just fit in....
It was not in the beggining there....I transfered it. Is this a problem?
And last....I still don't understand what is the different from a clone....(I'm little slow brain...)
You said :

"A clone is copying the exact contents of one drive to another, including the operating system,
as well as all installed programs and data"
And so? the image where is different? it will not copy os and programs...(if any)?
Thank you so much...

regrocker....I know you are "mad"...with a clean install....
.....and why not...Sure is the best!
....Boys I have two laptops ...an old Acer....and a new Dell..
For now I have all my data in an external drive....both laptops are in a working ...about "well" state...
...and me I am just reading and studing ....computing...
...So answer to my second post...if you are nice....and everything is going to be GREAT!
...........I LOVE SEVEN FORUM!

...Gregrocker like I told you in the old thread I'm going to have a clean install in Dells system..(maybe in Acers too)...and i read all the tutorials...special yours.
I have not done it yet...because I found in Dells forum many posts complaining for compatibilities issues for xpsl702x with drivers.....and people got many problems....
.....So before I'll do it...I must have a "clear picture"....about what I will face
...I see all the story like learning....somehow I enjoy it...and the reason I started this thread...
...is just to know if something is going to be not well if with the images I have I can roll back

Theog thank you too....(of course...is simple to understand your point)
...but I have one more difficult question.....for you...
If someone change his original language with vistalizator....for example from greek to english
...can after have a repair with an english disk Os?

Thanks to all of you for your time....

Thank you so much...

Basically a clone copies everything over to the drive, including things like the page file, while a system image will not, unless you set up the imaging program to create a bit by bit image.
