W7 virus scan ?

i've heard that you don't need to install a virus scan/anit-virus programs, becasue Windows 7 has it's onw.. "built in".. IS THIS TRUE ? I was going to install AVG, but.. I'm not sure i need too.. :confused:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free, excellent, non-obtrusive FREE anti-virus program.

Install and use is extremely easy.
