Wallpaper no longer displays

Hello, all. I'm jazzed I found this forum! I've been running build 7057 32bit for a little over a week & really like it.

After an innocent memory upgrade from 1 GB to 2, wallpaper no longer displays. But everything else still works great. The wallpaper files are still there, and they open up great in Windows Photo Viewer. Another curiosity is that the thumbnails (for both folders and files) in explorer view show up as blank squares, instead of having the little image in them. I think that's got to be related to the main problem.

I have uninstalled/redetected the video driver in Dev Manager, looked at all the personalization settings, Googled, searched this forum, all to no avail... I even pulled out the extra memory just in case that triggered the problem, but of course no change (so it's back in now, of course...)

Any ideas are appreciated!

I could definitely try that. I was hoping there was some setting I was missing or something like that, some logical reason for the behavior. Thanks for the idea.

Jacee, tried the reg hack on that page. It errored saying it couldn't merge all entries (even in safe mode). But interesting info there, thanks.

So I did a system restore (thanks Gary) from a restore point a week back. That did the trick. Wallpaper & thumbs are working again! I like how it shows what has been installed at the various restore points, so you know what will need to be reinstalled.

Thanks, guys. Now almost finished d/ling 64bit 7068 :D.

Your welcome JonnyMac. Glad you got it sorted.

I like that about restore points also.
