Water Cooling guide

Heads up I installed Kaze Jyuni scythe Fans and big time change which i am happy to report

The stock fan from the waterblock and coolermaster fan did no justice but these puppies got me with no worries now

stable temps now :D max temps after burning a movie were 37c then droped back down to 16c
I'm air cooled with a Scythe Mugen2. The twin Kaze-Jyuni fans I use are krazy cool. ;)

Great choice Solarstar. :D

Mugen are the Thicker 120 mm fans right ?
I wanted to grab a pair of those but i wasn't to snout about buying new screws to mount those baby's

I had to go out and buy better fans because my water cooling was acting like average cooling and there has been a big change so that pleases me for now till i see somthing else

Scythe Mugen is an air CPU cooler.> Mugen 2 Rev. B: CPU Kühler, Lüfter, Lüftersteuerung, PC Netzteile von Scythe

I was just pointing out you went with the Scythe Kaze-Jyuni's fans as I had.

Two years service and 16 hours a day on average on the fans with nary a squak from them.
I bought 3 while they were on sale so I would have a back up. The backup is still in the box collecting dust.

Two years at even 12 hours a day is 8640 service hours on my system except the SSD's.

I think it is closer to 10,000 hours actual.

I have no need for water cooling but I enjoy checking out the new hardware and tutorials.

A bit like going to a auto show. It is always fun checking out the new stuff and the Ferrari's and Porsche's. ;)

My new turbo Carrera might need extra water cooling.

Good job with the tutorial.

I have a Noctua NH-D14 that does better. And Ivy Bridge gets awful hot when you OC it. The H 100 can't handle it. I've repasted a dozen times with 3 different pastes, tried numerous fans in every configuration imaginable. Nothing changes. At 1.224V I hit 85 in Prime. I'm looking for something much better.

There's here some test with highly rated thermal compound:

And the very high rated kit:

PS: I'm actually with a Cpu Air Cooling but i'm very interested in watercooling some parts only.
Not the CPU!

ALMOST 4000 VIEWS!! Now, a small update, I made my rig into two separate loops, gpus and cpu, it has a 480 and 120 rads for the gpu's and then it has one 360 for the cpu. Temps went down by 4-6degrees, but what I noticed is the gunk in my reservoir, lots of white mush everywhere. So stripped it all, and noticed the tubing inside disolved, turns out the tubing was packed and stored in crates, this picked up junk that hardened over time, it disolved with the intense heat. So as a small tip, drain your rigs every 4-6months just to get old liquid out, I replaced the liquid with 10:1l ratio distilled water and antifreese, and it works great. This was 3weeks ago, last noght I stripped it again, and went back to single loop, temps rose by 2degrees,but I like the look more. Also a great tip, if your tubing is to tight, as in, you cut it "perfectly" so it is very strait and just reaches both side, please redo them. Cause they will leak. I noticed after intense gaming the tubing gets so hot,it expandes, and with the constant cool water going in,it streches allot and shrinks, the tight seal fitting cant let go,so it cracks and bing bang a leak! So leave yourself a bit of strech room.

I think it's around that time where I begin to extend/improve my setup.

I doubt I'll ever put money into waterblocks for the 6950 twins; one, because they'd both require different blocks, and two, because I don't even how long it'll be until I upgrade to a 670 or whatever.

Perhaps a new CPU block, new fans and some MX-4.

Thanks. Great tip, thanks for letting us know. I've missed having you around lately. I hope things are well with you and that you will be around more. We need you.

Thanx very much, I appreciate it. And yeah things are great, I was bussy with admision exams and bike riding, so pc just gathered dust. But 2 weeks ago I was done with tests so can now get back to it all. PC is still running smoothly even with all the swaps and changes, at least every time I swap out tubes I get easier ways to install them or neater way lol. Hope alls still good with you and your watercooled rig.

Terronium- It all depends on what you want yourself, I had 50/50 people saying yes and no to watercooling, in the end I did it for myself, and will never go back, I love the silence and low temps. Plus it looks awesome lol.
