wd external hard drive

wd hard drive not recgonised on my desk top. okay on my laptop, can somebody help please

a couple of questions:

• the external drive is usb?
  
  
• do other devices work in the same usb port?
  
  
• have you tried other usb ports in your desktop?

wd hard drive

yes usb. camera phone ipad touch all work from both usb at front of computer.
have a 3 port hub from rear it still will not work from these either
