WD GPT 4TB internal HDD turns into RAW after 2.27 TB storage

i managed to lay my hands on another PC & attached the HDD to it as an external hard (through external case). it identified it as 4TB directly

i am installing it in the new PC & if it copies>2.27TB without problems i know for sure the problem is from my PC.

it might turn out to be a BIOS problem after all (although it was working perfectly before & that the the current version is the same as the one before flushing, what a crazy world!)

i'll keep you posted, guys i am still open for your suggestions

In case old motherboards not recognising >2TB drives we know thus far

1. Updating the the IRST driver to the latest version has resolved the problem in some cases.

2. Atleast one user in a recent case which I still remember, flashed the bios to the latest version available and that resolved the problem http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/399508-windows-not-recognizing-3tb-hd.html#post3273718

Beyond these the only solution I can think of is upgrade your system with a new motherboard. :)

We may still be missing something. So I would still advise you to experiment - since you have physical posession of the system - and if you resolve the problem, let us know. I will add it as number 3. :)
