Well we are gaining on it.
It would be helpful if you went back over the tutorial again so we could have a picture like mine with out the side panels. The side panels cover up to much information.

Is the picture above with or with out your external hard drive hooked up?

Diskmgmt.msc should of got you to the same place. I just wanted to do it the long way to see if you could get there.

Are you using the 12v power connection on your external drive. (WD Element 10B8)?

Don't forget to answer the other questions.

Try this. Shut down computer. Hook up external hard drive and then Start the computer and see how things look.

How many usb ports does your laptop have and what are they 2.0 or 3.0?

Well now that is strange. I can understand not seeing the external drive but I don't understand not seeing any drives.

Is that the exact same way it acted on the other computer?

Once again. Are you using the 12 volt connection on your external drive??

Hi omidmkh622,

Not to worry. I was all along watching to see whether we could get a Windows Disk Management picture.

Most probably the file system in your external drive is damaged that is preventing Disk Management to show anything.

Now before we can get on to the next step, I want you to confirm that you can still see your external drive as drive H: in my Computer as in your first screenshot in your post #14. Check and confirm.

OK, Fine. Let me forewarn you that there is a distinct possibility that that the SATA to USB bridge electronics inside the enclosure could have failed. In such a case no DIY data recovery is possible. I am still not sure that that could have happened but DLG could not see the drive is bad indeed and cannot be overlooked. Still we will go ahead with the routine data recovery procedures hoping for the best.

First exploratory procedure:

Reboot your machine, plug in your WD external drive only .

Run check disk from command prompt.

Open Command prompt. Start > All programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

Against the Command prompt, Type

CHKDSK H: /f /v /r /x

Press enter.

Note: Replace H: with the actual drive letter of the external drive. Also note there is a space before every / If you are sure the drive letter is H: then I would recommend that you just copy this command and paste it against the command prompt and press enter.

Allow check disk to complete. Do not interrupt check disk for any reason. If it runs let it run. Leave it running overnight and go to bed.

After check disk completes reboot your PC.Can you access your drive now?

If it aborts by itself, post the screenshot with the error message.( I am not overruling this possibility but if there is a repairable file system damage this will or hopefully should repair it. Let us see.)

After running this atleast one user jumped "Woohoo! Chkdsk finished and the disk looks like it's back to normal! Thanks for all your help jumanji :D"

I don't know what will happen in your case since every case is different in someway or other.
