thanks im looking for reliability, power saving, not noisy, good read and write my current drive i have had nothing go wrong ( Western Digital WDC WD10EADS-22M2B0 ATA Device (IDE)) and thought of just getting the same but im willing to try another.

Do more backups.

I have a 1.5 TB HDD for backups and I have half filled it with this years monthly backups.
The backups don't even include my anime collection (~160 GB).

That's what I thought when I got my 1st TB now I'm at 4 ....
Imagine what it takes to backup your 1TB (and what's left after that of your 2TBs

An really old rule of thumb is to always buy a harddrive at least 1 size bigger than what you expect to need.
But that came from a time when harddrives were expensive...now you just wait another month and save

i no they are so cheap in money but the quality is superb for the money mass produced and very affordable this side of the pond

500GB drives are a dime a dozen here. I prefer going with several smaller drives if I can, rather than one huge one. This allows me to retain data if a drive goes legs up.

i dont have room in my case i use hard drive fans i have a 1TB a 30GB ssd and waiting for the new 1TB that will max out my room then, but i have 4 external as well total of 2TB + 350 gigs all of which i use

I have a 500g OS HD, 2x1TB backup/ sotrage HD's and 3x400g external storage HD's. I'd say right now combined they would be lucky to be holding 30% of their collective volume.

Its hard for me to fill even 100 GB, I don't even know what to store in a 3 TB drive.

How about making a dozen partitions in it where I can try a dozen or more operating systems??

My hard drive is only 75 GB in size yet I managed to fit 3 operating systems into it, how much more can I achieve with a 3 TB drive???
