Webcam not working despite drivers being installed

Hello guys,

here's my problem. I'm running Windows 7 home edition on a Lenovo U400 laptop with i3 on it. Very stable system in general. For several months now I've been unable to use the built-in camera, which I doubt is broken or something, as there is a light that goes on everytime I try to get it to work (for example when using webcamtoy). Basically there is no image. Neither on Skype or on Webcam toy. I've tried getting someone from Lenovo to provide technical support, but all I got was the common "reinstall Windows", which I feel is more like a drastic solution for a problem that can't be that complex. Is there any application that lets me find out whether the drivers for the camera are up to date, or the proper ones?

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it says "no appropiate driver to be installed".

I downloaded the driver suggested by lenovo on their website. Apparently I've got the proper driver, but I wonder why the camera won't work. Any ideas as to what could be the reason?

Which software?

According to the device manager, the device works properly. Yet after a test on testyourwebcam.com, I still get no image. The little led next to the webcam lens does turn on.

You Cam is the Software .. Fn+F9 I think turns the Webcam on ...

I don't have that software anymore. It didn't work.

That key combination has already been tested. To no avail.

I did. I just deactivated it, but it didn't really solve the issue.

Thanks for your help. I'd gladly give you some rep, but I am on recharge as it seems. Perhaps someone will pop in and offer more alternate solutions.
