Solved weird. 7 is not associating a file type with program

all of a sudden, all my mp3's are not recognized as such by 7,,,,i think. let me explain....

i have quintessential player set as the default mp3 player. however all my mp3's lost their quintessential icon and now use a generic file type icon. i can still click on any mp3 and quintessential plays them, but here's where it gets confusing....

i want to tag some mp3's and when i search for those mp3's in this program, mp3 tag, NO mp3's show up because 7, i think, refuses to recognize them as such(hence the generic file type replacement of the quintessential icon). if i do a search for *.mp3 they all are found, it's just that they all have lost the proper icon.

Do you have a restore point prior to your issue?
Have you tried reinstalling quintessential player?
Have you tried rebuilding the icon cache?
Icon Cache - Rebuild
Have you tried resetting mp3 file association?
File Extension Type - Restore Default Associations

i defaulted the mp3 files to windows media player, then back to quintessential. now everything is back to normal.

any idea what happened?
