Hi there,

I know this is a W7 forum, but I hope you guys could help me anyways. I got a dualboot system running (W7/xp). I recently bought a new system with a gigabyte z77 board where I use the onboard graphics. In W7 everything is running fine, but in XP I can't get the graphic resolution to work in native mode of my HP LP2475w monitor. After installing the driver, XP boots in 640x480px and 4bit resolution. If I set it to any other resolution it gets back to the 640x480px.
The board got a official driver for XP. If I deinstall that one, XP is running with the windows vga driver and I can set the resolution to 1024x768px at least.

I tried to install the driver over the device manger and hoped this would solve the problem. But no. I got some error message: "mmc.exe has a problem" in the detail text there was a reference to a igfxcoin_5406.dll

Anyone could help?

Hello tarsonis mate I had a similar problem with using my Benq monitor on a Giga board in the Sandy Bridge build and I was advised to download the Catalyst Control Centre and that solved my problems it just needed rescaling - this might not cure your problem but worth a try - I take it has Ati graphics the board specs would have been good too as you have a MSI listed in specs:)

Hi. Well my failure. I didn't update my specs, what I did now. I got this board. I got a Intel HD4000 graphic chip on it. So I don't think that the ATI control center will work, but I give it a try.

Just as a matter of interest just what do you use the machine for light us light gaming or full o gaming etc I have installed NVidia GTX 650 cards in both my Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge machines for better graphics - in my humble opinion and it is not expensive either.

I have these for example - $135 out here -
ASUS - - ASUS GTX650-DC-1GD5

The system is mainly a DAW, a bit graphic design and emails checking is going on it too. Never play stuff on it. I was looking out for the most silent solution, so the onboard graphic is the way to go. No fan - no noise and extra heat. Thats why I don't want an extra graphic card.
I don't get why the hell the official driver doesn't work. I also downloaded one over the intel website that is a newer than this one, but the same behaviour. Maybe it has something to do with the bios settings for the graphics?

No well neither do I tarsonis mate if it is of any value that card is so quiet you would never hear it running and I think to be honest doing graphical stuff it would be perfect - though some might not agree.
I am not trying to sell it to you but it don't take much power to run either - is and is even cheaper one I have used and just as quiet GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 600 Series - GV-N650OC-1GI

There are "silent" types but they only run DDR3 memory http://ee.gigabyte.com/products/select/vga/geforce_600/ & ASUS - - ASUS GT610-SL-1GD3-L
but are a lot cheaper.

The other thing I like about the cards is you get the NVidia control panel too :)

The only other thing is for you to persist with that site - but I have found Gigabyte support so convoluted and long winded I just don't go there any more:huh:

Well, didn't found any solution. As I said I don't want any extra graphic card if I have the one onboard. I will ask the gigabyte support.

Good luck mate from experience you are going to need it as Gigabyte are pretty ordinary in that department.
