"Well below expectations" Windows 8 sales

While a case can be made against bundling AV software with Windows (IE and Media Player anyone?), the fact that most 3rd party AV software simply suck doesn't help the AV companies at all.

MSE replaced Defender in all but name in Win8. Since Defender was already a legacy component on the last two Windows OS's it isn't as subject to new anti-trust action from A/V competitors.

Very good point Greg.

"I love Windows 8" as long as you keep stuffing those used $100 bills in my back pocket type website.
I hate 8 and see no point in turning the desktop world upside down for it. Poor sales are exactly what I expected, wait until after the holidays and the returns and exchanges keep coming in. If you are a computer guy in a business could be good for you selling 7 and installing it for the client.
8 is another VISTA.
I really do like 7 and I still like XP, 2000 and NT4.

Totally agree! Thats exactly what they did to the desktop world, turned it upside down for no worthwhile reason.
You "expected" poor sales, and I'm celebrating poor sales. That's exactly what they deserve and I hope that's what they get.
I hate what 8 did to Windows for desktops and I'm staying with W7. If people don't buy it, MS will have to either fix it or choke on it.

After showing my Dad Windows 8, he even agrees that Windows 7 is the better operating system and is more suited to the traditional desktop environment, which users have become very familiar with over the last 10+ years.
