What do you guys think of iBuyPower and CyberpowerPC?

I need to buy a new PC soon, and I can't build it myself since I am very inexperienced in the art of computer assembling. Also, I would like to have warranty on the entire system instead of just the parts. I was looking at some assembled PC's from iBP and CPC and they looked to be very cheap for their price. However, I wanted to ask you guys, is the quality of the PC good? Do you experience many problems with PC's from them? And how good is their customer support?

Could someone give me a rough price of how much it would cost to build the same thing (the chassi can be different) myself?

It is much easier than you might think and you will then be an expert on your own machine.

About ten years ago one of my nieces wanted a new computer. I ordered the parts for her but made her build it herself. Guess which one of my family members bugs me for help the least?

It would be a lot easier to ship one component out for replacement than to have to pack up the whole machine. It would probably be quicker, too, since iBuyPower would probably remove the offending part and send it off to the original manufacturer, meaning that you would have to wait for TWO companies to ship stuff rather than just one. Besides, system warranties include an extra cost for tech support. You get that here - and it's free.

As for cost, check Newegg (since that's where you linked to the computer to begin with) and price out the major parts. (MB, CPU, RAM, Video Card) Don't forget to look at Newegg's combo deals - you'll likely save a bit of money.

You can check individual prices as easy as I can, but I'm guessing that you can get a better computer for less than $860 by building it yourself.

FYI: I had a case like this and I hated it. The USB ports are on the side and I kept breaking things off because of it. Lost a lot of good flash drives. Next the case front is bubbled out and it was hard to place in my desk, hard to open the door just to burn a DVD, then I tried on the floor but it stuck out too much, so on the desk it went taking up a lot of space and every time I swung around I would break a USB device.

I bought a nice case about 2 months later and everything is much better. JMHO

What???????????? Old folks have to depend on the young to build computers. Hell my grandchildren find it hard to walk and chew gum at the same time. Other than my iMac 27 my Windows machine is home built by me; forget that grandchildren part. :roflmao:

I looked at them when I was seeing what assembled PC's cost. I actually did extensive research. They are actually probably the same company from what I read. You'll notice the similarities in their sites and options. I looked at many reviews and forum discussions. I also took note of their resellerratings and BBB ratings:

Their ratings actually look pretty good, but after reading of individuals getting PC's with parts that weren't what they ordered. Problems getting refund, etc. I decided against both, even though their prices were lowest for the specs.

I ended up getting my PC (see my specs) at AVA Direct. Their price for a professionally assembled and tested PC, OS installed and set up, and a 3 Yr. warranty was only $50 more than me buying the parts at retail, and that would have been a box of parts and an OS disc.

Gaming PC, Custom Desktop Computers, Gaming Notebooks and Laptops, Workstations, Servers, Computer Hardware

There are others, but they get more expensive. they include Digital Storm, Puget Systems, Falcon Northwest, and Maingear. I'm 100% satisfied with my PC. You'll find people on both sides on all manufacturers listed here, but the number of people sour on iBuyPower and CyberpowerPC warded me off. A Guy

I have no idea what presumption means xD. I just assumed everyone would be around 20-30, I had no idea how old people are. Thats why I made the thread

a presumption is what you make when you presume/assume something without knowing the facts first.

Presumption is very similar to assumption.

Loosely put, the main difference is that assuming is based on 'no evidence at all, or pure guessing without any basis of fact' whereas presuming is still guessing, but is based more on a known or supposed fact

ie You see a man you don't know with a woman and they are kissing.

Assumption = it's either his wife or girlfriend.

That's a pure guess as you don't know the man.

You see a man you do know and you know he has a wife or girlfriend. That man is kissing the woman.

Presumption = It's his wife or girlfriend. Because you know he has one.

However, it's still a guess as he could be kissing a stranger who is neither his wife or girlfriend.
