What do you use for a Firewall on your Windows computer ?

I found Zone Alarm to be lacking, with updates this year making it work worse for me.

I had purchased AVG Paid anti-virus last year and found out my paid update this year included a firewall.

ZA went into panic mode, with popups, as I uninstalled it. Ethernet disconnected.

I ran the AVG paid instlal agina, and selected install firewall this time.

I did find that you have to tell it to ask for a program's permisison to go outside my computer. It doesn't do that automatically.

What do you use ? And how well does it work for you ?

Not going to change mine. I'm just curious.

I use the standard Windows 7 one, it seems to be good enough for me. Never had any problems with it yet.

I am ashamed to admit I do not use a firewall other than on my router. I do not use an antivirus program either. I keep Kaspersky installed but not enabled mostly to ward off evil spirits. I will say that in 10 years I can recall a few times that I have had a virus. Some have told me it is just a matter of time or that I am just lucky. i disagree, I chalk it up to sanitary browsing. ( I also keep my internet browsing security settings at a minimum. I do have a pesky habit of periodically checking the registry and obsessing over my task manager. Not that I recommend this approach. Now my teenager, she has all of the securitybI can put on the machine and she still gets viruses, malware, and all manner of cyber disease.

I ALSO Have a router that's completely secured.. as much as is possible .. the whole nine yards .

I've been using Zone Alarm's free firewall without any problems for years (the only downside are fairly rare popups asking me to upgrade--maybe one every month or two). I like it because it is easy to use, unlike Win 7's firewall. I've used it with MSE and Avast free (I'm currently using MSE). It also plays well with other anti-malware programs like MBAM and SAS.

I have been using the Zone Alarm Security Suite, it is a pay program, for about ten years. It does a good job all the way around and is worth the money I pay for it each year.
