Haha, I have a dual-core CPU. =P They struggle to have me like one more then the other.

I used to leave my pc on 24/7...however over the years I have amassed a collection of computers...so my energy bill was starting to notice. At present, I have a file server machine in my house that runs 24x7. However, my other machines are turned off. As others have said, these higher power machines are great, but they do consume more energy and give off more heat.

dude, Thats a wiered Computer you got there, make sure to turn off the power. and install some Terms/Rules and Regulations that includes
"Looking/Staring at a human while he/she is in sleep, changing clothes, bathin etc. is not formal and may result in a permanant BIOS Update or a Re-Format and futher warnings will include Spikes in Power Lines" term or something

Do you have any idea how much power is being wasted by leaving it on 22 hours a day when you are only using it for 2?

There are sites on the web that attempt to quantify it, and by any of their measures it's staggering. Do your wallet and the world we live in a favor and turn off (or sleep atl east) your machines when they are not actively being used.

(And that includes protein folding, searching for aliens or trying to break encryption at levels that are far below what is common and legal to use these days, it is actually a TREMENDOUS waste of power)
