I can't believe people still are squabbling about Windows 7 :p

We are just answering the question posed in the title, it would be a bit silly to pass an opinion on all the things we thought we did like in Win 7 in a thread titled :- " What don't you like about Windows 7? " :p

I'm sure there is at least one "Windows 7 is great" thread or similar you could contribute your opinion towards. :p

Don't forget:

"For your safety and convenience..."

These signs at are at the local healthy-veggie store, for their 'shopping carts'.

I always feel 'in peril' and 'inconvenienced', when I leave them next to the front fender, driver's side, of my car...

Like gas, the feeling passes.

Although I don't find opening frequently used documents with two clicks from the taskbar using the jump lists to be any problem at all and actually like that feature, for those who must have access with one click, why not simply put the document or a shortcut to the document on the desktop?

One method to gain access to documents from the taskbar is to create a folder somewhere convenient on your system, and add a toolbar pointing to that folder to the taskbar.

This can contain either the documents or shortcuts to them.

This will produce a dynamic list of current items which can be opened with a single click.

You can adjust the width of the toolbar to show as many or as few items as you want and if set to sort by date can even be set-up to display the most current items first.

You can adjust the toolbar to produce various forms of display, (small or large icons etc.).

One option would be to create a toolbar pointing to the systems recent documents folder and this would be automatically maintained by windows.
It should be available here ...

In general I like W7. But I am missing a few functions:

1. The Quick Launch is missing and the tweak is mikey mouse - it does not provide the "Add to ..." function in the right click context menu
2. I always have an extra toolbar that I create by pushing a folder with shortcuts into the top of the sceen. That does not work in W7. What makes it worse is the the AppLauncher in the sidebar does not work yet either. But that is not an MS problem.
3. In Vista I run movies as screensaver. In W7 I have not found a way to do that.

What I like about W7 is the small footprint and the good performance. I can care less about all the eye candy they have added.

Create a shortcut to your Quick Launch folder. Place that shortcut in your SendTo folder.

One less reason to dislike Windows 7.

Thanks, good idea. Did not think of that. Btw: I do not "dislike" W7. I think it will become a good system.

lol everybodys so defensive over windows 7.

Windows 7 has some issues as its new and so driver support etc is rubbish right now. I think this thread should be stickied so we can say what annoys us about windows 7 and hopefully get solutions if they exist.

Were only defensive when someone posts an issue with 7 that has a well documented fix or workaround (a simple search could have resolved everything) or they post rubbish that is just not true...

Come on, Z. Admit it. Windows 7 sux. Especially Aero.

Anyway, I hear a good tone in stew2's odd post.

I think this thread should be stickied so we can say what annoys us about windows 7 and hopefully get solutions if they exist.

That is what this site does.

Were only defensive when someone posts an issue with 7 that has a well documented fix or workaround (a simple search could have resolved everything)

Well i posted my 3 issues which were:

  • Windows Media Player
  • The Control Panel
  • And Games Explorer
So far nobodys answered with a solution so its an unfixable thing about windows 7 which is what i dont like about windows 7. I want to install windows media player 11 and vista games explorer and i know nothing can be done about the control panel so i posted it in this thread as those are the things i dont like about windows 7 ;) .

I like the idea of this thread, you just have to look at the post by whs where he just didnt like something but was unwilling to start a thread over something so small but Antman gave him a solution.

Lack of an in-built debugger. It forces the download of the "debugging tools" package for even the smallest of code-level issues.

XP had a debugger (NTSD) but it was removed in the Vista timeframe because they didn't want to have to service it and it was never used on >99% of clients. It's an understandable decision for an OS program manager, but it forces an additional step for those with many different machines to support.

No thread is too small. Many threads are too big. It is not likely that anyone who is looking for it will ever find the Send To Quick Launch solution here.

Stew2 - I looked through this thread to see if I could shed some light on the three issues, but I just don't like culling through the clutter. I haven't examined your Games Explorer thread yet.

Stew2, I am not certain I understand your comment. I thought this was a thread where you were supposed to post things you are missing (or dislike) in W7. I was not looking for a solution although I am thankful to Antman to point out an easy work around for the Quick Launch. My own work-around are toolbars in the taskbar where I park my shortcuts. I wish though that the owners of the AppLauncher make a W7 update because that is really handy.
