Its definetly not fragmentation, as i regularly defrag.

After a defrag, the disk space is no more fragmented but the files can still be all over the place.

No. TuneUp drive defrag senses stuff like files that are required by programs and puts them together on the hard drive.

No Complaints from me so far.. The only thing so far is finding it difficult to procure a driver for an osbscure USB LAN device i have plugged into mah laptop.. other than that, compatibility with my devices has been nothing short of astonishing considering i'm using 64 bit win 7....

One thing I don't like is the Internet games. Why do I have to log on to an internet game I can't really even chat with when It would be just fine as a stand alone single person game. I can't even say okay friend, I want to play backgammon with you with these games? What is being sent while I play this game to Microsoft? I end up playing the computer most of the time anyways because there seems to be relatively few people who like this game.

Not much of a complaint I know.

The no. 1 thing that I hate in Windows 7 and other Windows OS is that it gets slower over time. Even if you did the right maintenance, things still get slow because of registry errors, faulty files, folders and settings that are left over by removed applications that maybe risky to remove using registry cleaners. So I agree with some of the others.

I also hate the way that Microsoft did not make downloadable custom themes that can match the coolness and design of third party themes. The downloadable themes they offer are so plain and simple compared to third party themes. Third party themes in turn need this and that to be installed.

Microsoft should also consider making some downloadable apps that can do a variety of things so that these programs in turn would be more compatible to their operating systems which their company and themselves designed.

And while installing apps made by Microsoft (such as MS Office,Windows Movie Maker) , why is it not possible to install the app to another directory, other than the C:/Program Files folder????

None of those cause the computer to slow down. Running applications cause the computer to slow down. Unused entries in the Registry do not cause any delay. Junk files on the HDD do not cause the computer to slow down unless it is so full that free space is scarce.

Why this myth is still alive baffles me.

That is the point lol, since many folders and orphaned files and registry keys are left, they help make the space scarce and makes the HD fragmented and causing it to slow down.

But in the sense, I did see some corrupt registry keys made my computer's shutdown so slow and made my desktop gadget crash when I was on Vista so better not bust that myth yet.

Getting really sick of locks on everything. Never had this problem with Vista. (never thought i'd say that:confused:)

I am logged in as admin (not super-admin). When I install programs, if I paste a shortcut to my desktop, it has a lock on it. No big deal, still able to move, delete or whatever. But after spending alot of time getting my OS running again and desktop looking tight, all of a sudden I have these locks.

I can get rid of the locks by going into security tab and writing a permission for "everyone", and the lock goes away. Just getting to be a nuisance.
I would like to know what I did to make this happen.

I may have to go into Super-admin and set all permissions from there, maybe that'll end this.

The lock indicates only you have permission to access this item. Now since it is appearing on individual files and folders this tells me you altered permissions somewhere but did not carry those permissions to the children. The lock only appears at the highest level. In the default out of the box experience the lock only appears on "C:\Users\[username]" folder none of the children.

Seriously people, altering permissions without knowing what you are doing is a really bad idea.
