No sir, not in this instance we think. We have come to the conclusion that it is a voltage regulator problem. We might be way off, but looking up the problem we were experiencing on the web we found a number of people who had the same situation in that one processor seems somehow to KILL the board it is added to, and any subsequent processor inserted on that and then any other board, including the working original also dies. We have three boards here, two of which were working fine, until I put a different Skt 775 processor in to test it out on a (then) working board. Putting the original processors back in these working boards did not return anything to a normal state. So, we now have three dead processors and/or three dead boards. My retired electronics engineer hubby brought up the function of voltage regulators, and I spent some time on the Hardware Secrets site looking up and learning about chokes and voltage regulators and wotnot. I didn't see any thing on there to explain or confirm that a voltage mis-match to the CPU/ LGA could be a possible cause, but it seems possible...for now it is all on the back-burner as we have other jobs piling up, but if I ever get a definitive answer, I will post my discovery on here.
