What is this on my MBoard???

That connector is for connecting auxillery power to your CPU if you have a power supply that it too old to have the 4 or 8 pin CPU power connector on it. In that case you can use one of the HD power connectors to provide more power fo rthe CPU. You HAVE to have one of those connectors hooked up for the MB to work properly. But if you have a relatively recent (< 4 or so years old) power supply, use the square 4 pin or 8 pin connector that was made to go in that other connector below the molex one. Use either the 4/8 pin square one OR the molex though, not both.

Windows 7 should recognize the hardware if the bios is up to date.. or as up to date as possible. I've successfully installed 32bit 7 to much older hatdware than that. I don't think the utility disk will work though, but the only way to find out is to assemble a box and see if it works. If not, there's always XP.

Oky let me explain you my whole plan....I have a Gigabyte G31M-ES2C and then this intel board. The Gigabyte one I bought this year brand new but the only reason why i am building everything over to the intel is i got more ram but the Gigabyte only has 2 slots and the other reason is that my gts250 card is a big card and on the intel the card will a lot cooler because there is more space. So yah do you think tis is a wise choice wich board is better? And why?

They both support a core 2 processer but the intel board supports 4 GB DDR at a max of 1GB/DIMM and is has an older generation chipset (ich6) than the Gigabyte Board (ich7), which supports 4GB DDR2 at 2GB/DIMM.. and can run at a higher clock speed. Neither is able to fully utilize a GTS250 Card, and I think switching to the intel board will result in a slower system.

Oky so you prefer the gigabyte one?

The memory in the gigabyte board isn't compatible with the intel board.. memory speed is going to be your choke point if you switch to the intel board and install windows 7.. If heat is an issue you'll be better off moving the whole thing to a bigger case that has more fans than switching to the intel board

Thanks mate I also thought of that but you veryfyed it for me thanks i think is is clear that I keep my brand new board and put it in the big case i have. Uhm ca you check for me wich ram does a Abit nf8 motherboard takes?
