What printer/scanner combo besides HP $100-$150?

I have an HP Officejet 6500 and I HATE the thing. It never works. All of the buttons on the front wont even do anything if I press any of them. It never communicates with my wireless and now it's refusing to print or scan.

I can't stand it & want a new printer/scanner combo between $100-$150 with something that is on par with the 6500's print & scan quality.

What are my options? I don't print a lot and don't use it to print pictures or anything.

If you just want a printer, I just bought a Brother HL-2240 and only paid $54.99 at Staples

I've had Canons, Epsons and HPs and they all performed well for a few years. My HP 6310 is on it's last leg so I'll be getting another inkjet soon. I'm fed up with ink prices of the big three so I'm going Brother this time. I don't need a fax so I'll be looking for a printer/scanner.

I picked up a laser printer before Thanksgiving to do transfers and equipment labels. In fact it's a HL-2240, same as AddRam's. It draws a lot of power so I don't use it for regular printing. It trips the alarms on my UPS boxes every time I turn it on. But at least I don't worry about the ink drying out when it's not in use.
