What Sort Of UPS Do I Need?

Hi Guys,

I just spent the day restoring my desktop computer after a power outage scrambled the hard drive. I've had the power go out before but it never seemed to affect my computer. This time however, the computer was very slow to boot up. And when it did boot up, it was extremely slow when it came to doing anything else with it.

So I restored my PC using a system image I had created and it works fine now.

Anyway since this mess, I am thinking of buying a UPS... but how much UPS do I need?

I see various UPSs are rating by Watts and KVA... so what do I need for a single machine? How do I determine the KVA I need?

Also... the stuff that would be connected to the UPS would be one desktop PC, it's 20 inch LCD monitor and a DSL gateway modem. I have a inkjet printer that is connected to my desktop by USB cable... but I have read that you shouldn't connect any printer to a UPS. Is that true?

Anyway... any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

BTW... My computer specs are listed below.

Thanks,

Cricket
