How come when I play GTA IV:EFLC (TBoGT) then use the phone to play multiplayer then will have a message ''You need to be logged in to Rockstar Social Club to be able to play multiplayer?

I'm getting mad already :(

I can see my stats on RGSC website, but why can't I play online? I am able to log in in LIVE everytime.

Max Payne does require it wouldn't let me play the game on release if i didn't
